2008/2009 Expedition Theme: "Creativity and Human Spirit"

This year in social studies we will be using the tools of the Historian and themes of history to help us answer the following guiding questions:

Why is it important to learn about the past?

What are the tools historians use to learn about the past? How do we use them?

How have the ideas and actions of individuals transformed human history and the course of civilization?

Who are some of the individuals and what are some of the key events that have transformed the course of human history?

Week of September 22
What are the tools of historians?
1. We will be learning about how historians measure and organize time this week.  
2. Students will learn how to take notes using main idea/ supporting details graphic organizers.
3. Students discuss these tools of the historian as well as practice using these tools using the new Smart Board in the classroom.
