Our 6th grade classes (Purple and Yellow) as well as our split 6/7 class (Silver) are been learning about decimal operations. It will begin with the introduction of the decimal by using money and decimal models which we will be drawing in class and then we will be putting decimals in order in terms of their value. We will then proceed to add and subtract decimals. After a short quiz, we will then get more involved by multiplying and dividing decimals.
Our 7th grade Gold class is working in conjunction with Mrs. Foster's 7/8 prealgebra class. We began our unit of Integers by learning about absolute value and then proceeded to plot coordinates using the x and y-axis. We will then be adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers, which can be a tricky thing with sign changes.
Other important information:
I am available for extra help for your kids on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00.
We are going to be introducing an after-school math enrichment program Mondays-Thursdays this month.
Homework is important. 3 missed assignments and you will be receiving a letter home from me.
All homework assignments are written into your child's agenda books. Ask to see it to find out homework status. Homework is given about half of the time, 1-2 times per week.
