This year in Visual Arts Academy class we will be focusing on drawing skills. Our class specifically will focus on an exploration of different functions of drawing as perception, communication and invention. This is a brand new school year so let's make it a creative and productive one! We will be reviewing class expectations, grading, and taking a pre-test. Students will be given a sketchbook, a pencil and an eraser, and a homework folder. We will be start to review the elements of art this week. Week #2: March 19, 2012 This week students will be introduced or re-introduced to the elements of art. We will be review the elements of art this week and complete a corresponding mini project title Cube It! Advanced Art students will finished their perspective projects with a group discussion looking at the work. We will then kick off a sculpture project with an introduction to Louise Nevelson's work. Week #3: March 26, 2012 This week students will be finishing their mini project titled Cube It! We will have a quiz on the elements of art. We will then move on to Contour Drawing. Advanced Art students start their wood assemblage sculpture project based on Nevelson's work. Week #4: April 2, 2012 This week students will be working the skill of Contour Drawing. Advanced Art students continue working on their wood assemblage sculpture project. April Break 6th-15th: Rest and Relax ! Week #5: April 16, 2012 This week students will be working on the skill of Contour Drawing. Advanced Art students continue working on their wood assemblage sculpture project this will be due after break.
