Dear ISAAC students,
WELCOME to ISAAC all new students and WELCOME BACK everyone else! This year in Visual Arts Academy class we will be focusing on drawing skills. Our class specifically will focus on an exploration of different functions of drawing as perception, communication and invention. This is a brand new school year so let's make it a creative and productive one! Always do your BEST work!

Week #1: Nov, 28 2011
This week students will receive a drawing pre-test. In addition, all students will receive a visual arts expectations list, a class description, and a grading sheet. We will review classroom expectations and create classroom guidelines. Homework will be given weekly.
Week #2: Dec 5, 2011
This week in Adv Art we will be working with the concept of value in a drawing, gray scales and shading. In addition, students will be given an independent project of designing this year's yearbook cover (front and back). The drawing students will review the elements of art this week. Homework will be given weekly.
Week #3: Dec. 12, 2011
This week in Adv Art students will be working their value overlapping objects project. In addition, student's independent project of designing this year's yearbook cover (front and back) is due complete 12/15/11. The drawing students will viewing a Power Point slide show on What is drawing? Why do human beings create pictures? Homework will be given weekly. Students will be working with learning to see using contour lines to draw small objects and hands. Our first project will be a drawing of overlapping shoes.
Week #4: Dec 19, 2011
This week in Adv Art students will be finishing their value overlapping objects projects, writing reflections and evaluating their work. Drawing students will start their contour drawings of overlapping shoes this week and finish them this week. Homework will be given weekly.

Week #5: Jan 3, 2012   Happy New Year 2011
This week in Adv Art students will be getting their grade updates and we will be taking a walking filed trip to  local artist  Roger Trembley's studio to kick off our next unit. This unit will be an integrated unit using math, art and technology.  Drawing students Day2/4 will be finishing their drawings of overlapping shoes this week and be evaluating their work. Day 1/3 students will be moving on to a linear perspective project being kicked off with viewing a short tape titled Masters of Illusion.  Homework will be given weekly.
Week #6: Jan 9, 2012
This week in Adv Art students are starting a new integrated art, math and technology unit on fractals. Drawing students Day2/4 will be finishing their drawings of overlapping shoes this week and be evaluating their work then, moving on to one point linear perspective. Day 1/3 students will be working with one point linear perspective, given a pretest, demo and an activity. Homework will be given weekly.
Week #7: Jan 16, 2012
This week in Adv Art students are continuing their unit on fractals. Drawing students Day2/4 will be working with the concepts of linear perspective. Day 1/3 students will be working with one point linear perspective by practicing their skills and reviewing other students' works. Students will need to decided what kind of space they would like to design for their next project. Homework will be given weekly.
Week #8:  Jan 23, 2012
This week in Adv Art students are composing their fractals, saving compositions and printing them out. Drawing students Day2/4 will be working with the concepts of linear perspective and practicing how to create the illusion of 3D shapes. Day 1/3 students will starting their "Design a Space" project this week. We have a 1/2 Day on Wed so there will be no academy classes. Homework will be given weekly.
Week #9: Jan 30, 2012
This week in Adv Art we extended the project 2 more class periods due to technical issues. Students will finish composing and review scientific notation concepts. Drawing students Day2/4 will be working with "Design a Space " Project. Day 1/3 students will continue with  their "Design a Space" project is due on Tues. Feb 7th. Homework will be given weekly in support of all of these projects.

Week #10:  Feb 6, 2012
This week in Adv Art we will be wrapping up and taking a post assessment on Fractals. Day2/4 will be working with "Design a Space " Project.  Project. Day 1/3 students will continue with  their "Design a Space" project is due on Tuesday Feb 7th at the end of class. Homework will be given weekly in support of all of these projects.
